United stumbled their way through to round two in a largely forgettable game.

Two moments of class were the difference between the two sides.

In four weeks' time United will again make the journey to Boundary Park on what will no doubt be a wet and windy evening and if Oldham play like they did on Saturday, United should have no trouble in picking up the three points.

This I feel is far more significant than the cup game and no doubt the football world will be looking for a Histon-esque experience with United at Kettering in round two.

There are few more miserable places on earth than Oldham on a wet Saturday evening and the game matched the climatic conditions. Leeds deservedly won the contest thanks to two excellent saves in each half from the much maligned Casper Angerkren and well taken goals from Howson and Grella securing a trip to Kettering in round two.

It would appear that the vast majority in Oldham preferred the historic internet showing of the fixture rather than the terrace and their dismal support added nothing to the occasion. I now look forward to the mighty Grella taking Leeds a step closer to Wembley tonight.

On a soggy November night, it was a simple case of getting the job done at Boundary Park, which is pretty much what Grayson's men did.

Whilst I wouldn't say it was an easy game, it was reasonably comfortable, with goals from Howson and substitute Grella seeing us through to the second round of the cup.

Blue Square Premier team Kettering Town will be rubbing their hands together following the draw, as I'm sure non-supporters of Leeds are too – surely, considering the start to the season, this won't be a repeat of the Histon fiasco?

A pretty comfortable win against a club from the wrong side of the Pennines.

I was quite surprised that the gaffer played such a strong side for the first round of the FA Cup, paradoxically, a decent run in this competition could be a bit of a distraction in terms of our ultimate goal of promotion.

Great to see the Leeds fans in full voice, even during the half-time break!

Embarrassingly for the red rose, any neutral observer would've thought it was the team representing the white rose who were playing at home. No league game for a couple of weeks now, here's hoping we can maintain our seven-point cushion.

On a cold, wet and miserable day in Lancashire the mighty Whites chalked up yet another win, however this time weren't rewarded with three points but a trip to non-league Kettering.

It was a scrappy game with Leeds looking the more dangerous throughout. Howson doubled his goal tally for the season with a left foot screamer in the first half and Grella, sporting a "Beckham beard" sealed the victory in the final moments with a nice finish following a good run and cross by Aidy White.

We deserved the win and it was pleasing to come away with the victory and no more injuries. All in all, a good day at the office.
