Leeds United have signed veteran goalkeeper Shane Higgs from Cheltenham Town on a one-year deal.

United manager Simon Grayson has been looking for cover for Casper Ankergren and Alan Martin since David Lucas was released at the end of last season and Higgs fits the bill.

The 32-year-old has enjoyed 10 years with the Robins and spent the second half of last season on loan at Wolves, although he failed to make a first-team appearance for the Championship title winners.

United manager Simon Grayson said: "He's desperate to make an impression and has the hunger and the desire to succeed at this football club."

I cannot belive what is going on at my club, we are buying or should i say snaping up every avaliable freebie on the market. Bates and Grayson told us all they are building a team to get us up next season but this is now moving beyond a joke, for gods sake you two get some decent players signed and spend some money.

I'm totally surprised by this and only hope that Mr Grayson lives up to his reputation of putting together successful teams on a shoestring.

The Chairman is clearly far too busy on the front pages again to be able to dedicate any time or money to bringing in some proven quality to our once great team.

Higher than average admission prices for a lower than average team. Continued "bad news" linked to our club. It's a disgrace.

I hope that in spite of all of this we still achieve promotion. Of course if we don't, it won't be the Chairman's fault, will it?
