Hi Brendan. If you were a Wigan defender, would you have kicked Jermaine Defoe on Sunday!
MICK, Rothwell

I tell you what, I'd have made the Wigan players walk back to Wigan or get their own bus or train anyway!

I'd heard that they are paying the supporters' costs out of their own pockets, but that result was a total disgrace. I watched it and how the hell Titus Bramble has made a living out of being a Premiership player, I don't know.

I saw him years ago playing against Leeds when he was at Elland Road playing for Ipswich before he went to Newcastle and to be fair to him that day, he had a blinder.

Then he got sold for £6m and I don't know what's happened since then. Maybe he started believing his own hype and publicity.

He walked past me once in the tunnel at Man City and he's quite a big lad – bigger than me – but I just don't know how he's stayed in the top flight.

He will be a millionaire now with the money he's made and the moves he's had. I'm not knocking him for that, but having seen him over the years and seen the pundits on the box talk about him – the likes of Hansen and Lawrenson – it's a surprise he's still making a living in Premiership football. Especially with the way he defended on Sunday!

But it was the whole team really. They should be ashamed of themselves. I know the manager was trying to defend them saying it was a one-off, but those supporters who went down to London and all that money they spent – they will have worked hard in the week for that money – I felt really sorry for them.

You don't get beaten 9-1 in the Premiership. When I was at Villa, we played Arsenal at Villa Park and lost 6-2. But I tell you who didn't score – Charlie Nicholas, and I marked him, so I felt great after the game that he didn't score. But six others did!

But it was embarrassing. I remember once at Leeds we went down to Stoke one year and although I wasn't in the squad because I was injured, I went down and we lost 7-2 I think.

I felt embarrassed watching the side.

And a 9-1 result shouldn't happen between two Premiership sides.

The all-round defending was disgraceful, a total shambles. And if I could have got near Defoe, I'd have been prepared to get sent-off and would have whacked him with a tackle at some point!

He said afterwards he'd had liked to have scored six. Course he would, he'd have liked to have scored 10 against that defence!

Are you surprised Robert Snodgrass didn't get a chance for Scotland recently or do you think it's done him a favour not being involved.
MAVERICK WHITE

Let's face it, I'm not trying to insult the Scots or Welsh, but you've got two Mickey Mouse footballing countries playing each other and Wales have turned around and hammered them.

And while disappointed he still hasn't got his cap, after looking at the way the Scotish team are performing, he's got to be gutted he hasn't got in – it may have done him a favour.

We didn't know at the time it was going to George Burley's last game and the way it's worked out, it could be a blessing in disguise.
He could have played some part and if it was the same result, he wouldn't have been happy with it anyway.

But now, whoever the new manager is will have some new ideas and may want to bring in some new players and hopefully Snodgrass will be in his plans if he continues to play well for Leeds.

He's done nothing wrong so far for Scotland, because he hasn't been playing!

It's the same as club management. David Prutton has been pretty much bombed out completely by Simon (Grayson) since he's been at the club, whereas under Gary McAllister, he was one of the main players, while the likes of Bradley Johnson is back in favour.

International managers have a lot more players to pick from and when the new one comes in at Scotland, he's going to look at Burley's previous selections and results and maybe it's good news Snodgrass wasn't involved.

Hopefully, Snoddy will get a chance if he keeps performing as he has done.

Scotland aren't a great side like they were in the past in Billy Bremner and Archie Gemmell's time – Peter Lorimer and Eddie Gray and the like. They haven't got those players anymore and have just a few Premiership players.

Brendan, we play Oldham on Tuesday, shortly after beating them in the cup. Is it hard playing a team twice in the space of a couple of weeks?
GEOFF, Wakefield

I don't think it is – especially for the team that won. We won there comfortably in the cup, but it will be another physical game. It always has been and always will be against Oldham, it's the Battle of Roses thing.

Oldham can say what they want, but I don't think they will be looking forward to it.

We're on a great run and if we are not going to be confident now, we never will be.

Hopefully, we'll forget Histon and hammer Kettering tomorrow, get through to the next round and then onto Oldham and Huddersfield.

Yes, it's three games in six days, but as a player, I'd rather play than train and they are great games coming up.

It's a big game tomorrow and we know if we don't perform, we'll get knocked out and we don't want to make headlines again in getting beaten by non-league opposition. And then there's two cracking games, the first one being at Oldham which is basically a derby. We beat them a couple of weeks ago, so we won't need picking up for that. And Saturday will be a fantastic atmosphere in front of a near full house.

So there's three big games and that's what the players train and play for. I'd be looking forward to all three of them. If we do the same things we did at Oldham a few weeks ago, we should beat them again.
