Last night's victory over Carlisle United to reach the Coca-Cola League One Play-off final was a fantastic achievement for everyone connected with Leeds United.
I have to say I was not totally surprised by the outcome because, in my opinion, we have generally been playing better away from home this season.
It has been great that we have attracted massive crowds to Elland Road, but sometimes I think the pressure and expectation gets to our players too.
But there is not as much of that away from home and we played some good football last night and I am delighted for Gary McAllister and his side.
It was a great team performance and it was always going to be interesting to see how we reacted to the defeat at Elland Road.
However, you could see from the first whistle that Leeds were really up for it and see their determination and will to win.
I was interested to read Gary McAllister's post-match comments about his team selection and that he had considered changing three or four of the players after Monday night's defeat.
In the end he decided to stick with the same XI and sometimes that works in football. You can say to the players it did not work for you the last time so go out and prove people wrong – and see how they react to the challenge.
Obviously, Gary had confidence to do that and he certainly got the right response at Brunton Park.
I thought our midfield was absolutely outstanding right across the park and you would not have recognised them as the same four players from Monday night.
I touched the other week on United's young player of the year, Jonny Howson, and his potential to go right to the top and he was another who benefited from Gary's decision to stick with the same team.
To get the two goals must have been a tremendous confidence booster for him and it must be a brilliant feeling being the local boy too.
It also shows that our Academy is still a great success and we are still bringing boys through who are capable of playing in the first team.
So now we are going to Wembley. We would have clearly gone up automatically but for the 15-point deduction and last night's result once again shows to everyone that the club is on its way back.
The corner has finally been turned and the club is stabilised and that is great credit to everyone involved from the chairman, Ken Bates, down.
Gary has come in and done a tremendous job in a very short space of time.
