Former Leeds United winger Harry Kewell is looking forward to the challenge of playing in Turkey ahead of his expected move to Galatasaray.
The 29-year-old striker arrived in Istanbul, where two Leeds fans were murdered before a UEFA Cup semi-final clash with Galatasaray in 2000, last night and is set to put pen to paper on a three-year deal later today.

Kewell turned down a contract offer from Liverpool in May and entered the current transfer window as a free agent.

He was reported to be heading to Celtic, Italy's Roma or Barclays Premier League side Portsmouth, but Galatasaray swooped first.

"I'm ecstatic, I'm thrilled to bits and looking forward to the new challenge," Kewell said on www.galatasaray.org. "I can't wait to join the team and get going.

"There's a lot of talk about the Turkish league, it's coming up in the world.

"The national team has done well in the last couple of international tournaments and there's a lot of young talent here.

"It's different and that's what I'm looking forward to - the new challenge."

I hope he's haunted by bad memories for the rest of his ill fated playing days. He's nothing but a money grabbing glory hunter.

After showing no feelings for the club/supporters that helped to get him to the top of the tree when he left for Liverpool, he does this. How anybody connected to Leeds at the time could even set foot in Turkey, never mind sign for G********* is totally unbelieveable. RIP Chris and Kevin.

What an absolute disgrace that man is. Talk about crossing a line, this man has crossed it, come back for his plastic cockney wife and then crossed it again.

Alan Smith wouldn't have gone this far.

Where are all the Billy Bremners?

Kewell is the lowest of the low. Good luck to the medical team at G*********y!
