The Yorkshire Evening Post has launched its own video weather service – presented by our own weathergirl, Shirley Whitehead.

Shirley, 45, a mum of three from Stanningley is already known to lots of our readers – without them knowing it. She is our newsdesk secretary and is the cheery voice on the end of the phone for lots of your calls to us.

And she is feeling on top of the world about presenting YEP Weather – as it is being recorded from the roof of the YEP's iconic offices on Wellington Street.

"The weather is something we're all obsessed about," said Shirley. "I know some people can't do a thing without finding out what the weather's going to be for the rest of the day.

"It's the one thing that is guaranteed to crop up in just about any conversation, so I'm thrilled to be providing a service especially for the people of Leeds.

"The weather is as complex as you want to make it, but my intention is to explain what it's going to be like as simply as possible so you get a 24-hour forecast in less than a minute."

The daily forecast will live on the website from 9.15am.

YEP digital editor Geoff Fox said: "We are keen to give people the very best up to date information at the click of a button. Our daily video forecast takes this commitment to our readers to a whole new level."

Visit www.yorkshireevening post.co.uk and click on the YEP Weather button on the right hand side of the main news and sports stories. That will take you to our weather page where you can click on the video player and get your daily weather fix.
