Boss Brian McClennan insists Leeds Rhinos will have all guns blazing when they face Les Catalans Dragons in Perpignan on Saturday – just seven days before their Carnegie Challenge Cup semi-final showdown with St Helens.
Catalans are third in engage Super League, a point adrift of Rhinos, and McClennan said his team can't afford to hold anything back this weekend, despite the importance of the following week's tie.
"We have been looking forward to this game," said
McClennan. "They are third and we are second and if they win, we drop to third and they go second, so that makes it a very big game. It is possibly one of the biggest games they have had over there, considering they have got a chance to go second at this stage of the season.
"That makes it exciting for everyone and we will be going full-on. We don't hold back in any game, we always do our best."
Rhinos are fresh from a morale-boosting 46-8 win over Huddersfield Giants and McClennan said they need to keep the momentum gained last Friday going.
"We feel like, as a team, we made some steps forward," he said. "We were unhappy about our fourth quarter, but overall we made some progress.
"We want to go to Catalans, against a side in good form and on a long unbeaten run, and test ourselves against them."
McClennan insisted Rhinos' immediate focus is on the crucial league four-pointer, rather than the cup shootout.
"We're not really thinking about the semi-final," he said. "It's in the back of everyone's minds, but Saturday is a big game in its own right."
And McClennan revealed he will be fielding his strongest-available side.
"We were never going to rest anyone for this game," he said.
Rhinos will travel on Thursday, flying from Leeds-Bradford to Barcelona before a coach transfer to Perpignan. They will make the return trip the day after the match.
"That's the way we've got to go," said McClennan. "It's no use moaning about it, we'll just get on with it.
"It's tougher for the other team, who have to do it every other week.
"It is a good opportunity to travel away together, which is always a good thing.
"We're going to be together Thursday, Friday and Saturday night and it's a good time for everyone to be together."
Rhinos' medical staff were today studying the results of scans on injuries suffered by hooker Matt Diskin (elbow) and prop Ryan Bailey (ankle) in the win over Huddersfield.
Dragons could be without Casey McGuire and Adam Mogg, who have been referred to today's RFL disciplinary committee hearing, following incidents in Saturday's last-gasp win over Harlequins.
McGuire is charged with "alleged punching" while Mogg is accused of "allegedly running in and punching".
Quins players David Howell (alleged punching), Louis McCarthy-Scarsbrook (allegedly running in and punching), Rikki Shefiffe (alleged punching), Michael Worrincy (alleged punching) and Tony Clubb (alleged careless high tackle) have also been referred.
Quins, who yesterday handed contracts to homegrown pair Tony Clubb and Will Sharp, play Castleford Tigers at the Stoop on Sunday.
