Long-term Leeds Rhinos casualty Ashley Gibson is due to make his playing comeback tomorrow afternoon.
Gibson is set to feature for Rhinos reserves in their curtain-raiser against Warrington Wolves at HJ Stadium (5pm).

The 21-year-old centre underwent a knee reconstruction after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament injury in May last year, but then damaged a hamstring on his first-team return against Castleford five months ago and has not played since.

Gibson's comeback is a timely boost for Rhinos, just a week after first-choice centre Clinton Toopi was told he needs a knee reconstruction which could keep him out of action for up to a year.

Coach Brian McClennan said: "It is good news, but he has been out for a long time and we will have to nurse him back."

Utility-player Jordan Tansey – who has missed Rhinos' last five first-team games – is also set to feature for the reserves tomorrow after recovering from a shoulder injury.

McClennan will check on Ali Lauitiiti (hamstring) and Danny McGuire (shin) before finalising his side for tomorrow's engage Super League fixture at Warrington.

Said McClennan: "They have got a chance, but whether they make it or not, I don't know.

"They have been named in the 19, so if they're right we can play them.

"Early in the week it looked like they wouldn't be playing, but their chances have improved."
