DEFIANT boss Brian McClennan insists Leeds Rhinos have nothing to fear from tonight's trip to bogey club Wigan Warriors.
Rhinos have lost their last five engage Super League meetings with Wigan, including a 23-22 result at the JJB Stadium just seven weeks ago.
But McClennan is taking heart from the Carnegie Challenge Cup quarter-final win over Warriors at the start
of June and he reckons if his team perform, the result will take care of itself.
"The Challenge Cup tie was a good, intense game, but the other two times we've played them we haven't played well at all," said the Leeds coach.
"The last time we played them at JJB Stadium, in the first-half they were very, very good and we were very poor.
"In the second half we clawed our way back, playing a bit of catch-up.
"The key thing is, there's no hang-ups about playing Wigan at all. We have got to concentrate on our performance and make sure we play well.
"If we do that, we are confident we can do a good job."
The game in July saw the home side lead 23-6 midway through the second half, before Rhinos staged a storming fightback to almost snatch the spoils.
"We have reviewed what has worked against them and what has not," said McClennan.
"The second half performance last time showed we are gritty more than anything, but we are really conscious that we need to lay down foundations in our game before we can start playing.
"We've been guilty of not doing that, but we think we did it pretty well last week against Castleford and we did it really well against Bradford in the second half the week before.
"We have got to continue that and continue the progress we've been making over the last few weeks."
Rhinos are guaranteed a top-two finish in the league table, with two games of the regular Super League season remaining.
"We have to go into the play-offs with some form," said McClennan. "But that's still a way off yet.
"We just need and want to play well at Wigan, just to satisfy ourselves and to make sure we are enjoying playing some good footy.
"We feel like we've done a lot of good things in the last couple of weeks and we've got to continue that.
"We feel we are making progress and our aim is to make some more this week."
