A violent rapist with a preference for sadism has been locked up indefinitely.
Charles Megson, 39, snared a teenager in an Wakefield alleyway, using a belt to tie her hands behind her back.
He dragged the 18-year-old into a field, where he punched and raped her, causing injuries including broken teeth, Leeds Crown Court heard.
Megson, who was handed an indeterminate sentence, vanished after the attack on March 7 2008.
He had been living in Harewood Road, Eastmoor, Wakefield, but went on the run under the name of Ian Charles until he was arrested in March 2009.
He disappeared for a second time just before his trial in October. A jury took less than an hour to convict him in his absence of rape and assault occasioning bodily harm. He was tracked down to Bradford.
The Recorder of Leeds, Judge Peter Collier, ordered Megson to spend at least six years behind bars and told him that he would not be released until he is no longer risk to the public.
He said: "You abducted (your victim] and took her across those fields and used far more force than was necessary to carry out the offence causing significant injuries.
"There is a pattern of violence and a doctor's report said a preference for sadism in your sexual preferences."
The court heard that Megson had arranged to meet his victim outside his home in Eastmoor. After tying her up he made her walk to a field before ripping off her clothes and raping her.
When Megson finally untied her and she tried to escape, he dragged her to the ground and put his hands around her throat.
She suffered injuries to her face and body and had marks around her neck from the belt.
The court heard Megson had a caution for battery for holding a pillow over a girl's face.
Megson had also been acquitted for attempted rape after he was alleged to have tied a girl to a bed. The jury acquitted him.
