A Pontefract resident managed to drag his washing machine into the garden after it caught fire in the kitchen.
A crew from Pontefract was called to the blaze, at a house on Cromwell Crescent, at around 8pm yesterday.

Red Watch manager John Lloyd said damage was limited as the man had managed to pull the faulty machine outside.

He also urged motorists to be more considerate when parking because the fire engine could not get down the street.
