Eight children hurt in Wakefield bus crash

At least eight children suffered minor injuries in an early morning bus crash in Wakefield.
The single deck bus is believed to have gone out of control and struck a traffic island in the middle of Hollingthorpe Lane, Hall Green, Wakefield.

The bus, believed to be a regular service and not a school special, is reported to have skidded on ice prior to the impact at about 8.10am.

An ambulance crew was sent to the scene of the accident which resulted in the bus coming to a halt across the carriageway.

Some of the youngsters who were hurt were reported to have suffered minor facial bumps and whiplash injuries. The driver was believed to be uninjured and no other vehicles were believed to be involved in the crash.
