A lorry driver had to be freed from his vehicle after it crashed into a hairdressers early today.
The driver lost control of the HGV as it hit black ice on Bruntcliffe Road, Morley, at 1.40am.

The skid caused the lorry to hit the front of the shop, trapping the driver in his cab.

Firefighters from Morley, Batley and Dewsbury had to remove the windscreen from the vehicle so the driver could escape.

Gas engineers and a building surveyor had to be called out to ensure the accident scene was safe.

The driver was taken to Leeds General Infirmary suffering from minor injuries, including a swelling to his hand.

Heavy lifting equipment was brought in to remove the lorry and get the road clear for traffic.

A bus and six cars were piled up at the top of Broadgate Lane at Horsforth this morning.

Other cars had to turn around in the road to avoid running into them.

Meanwhile, all First bus services in Bradford are cancelled today, due to "treacherous" road conditions, a spokesman said.

Martin McGowan, for First Group, said at 9am today: "Bradford services are currently suspended due to the roads conditions.

"It's treacherous out there. That situation is continuously being revised.

"In Leeds most of the services are operating however there are restrictions on some services off the main highways.

"The situation is being constantly updated on our website www.firstgroup.com/leeds or /bradford and the website also offers a twitter feed link."
