YORKSHIRE pair Jon Lupton and Scott Barber joined Manchester's Jon Cheetham in a battle at the head of the pack going into today's final round of the Leeds Cup at Leeds (Cobble Hall).
Middlesbrough assistant Lupton, Barber, from Waterton Park, Wakefield, and Cheetham all shot 67 yesterday and were on five under par, one ahead of a group of four in the PGA North Region flagship tournament sponsored by E-Z-Go in association with Kro
nenbourg 1664.

Among that quartet was Bridlington Links man Alex Belt, the North Region champion, while also in contention was Fraser Kelley, Yorkshire's leading assistant from Malton & Norton.

Defending title holder John Wells, the Yorkshire Open champion, repeated his first round 69 but the Cherry Burton man ended the day five off the pace and had much to do today while the shot of the day was made by Woodsome Hall's David Astin - he holed in one at the 112 yards sixth.
