The Yorkshire Team championship, which will conclude at Middlesbrough with the Division One event in August, got under way this week with the North qualifying round for the Division Seven championship at Saltburn where snow and hail forced the event to be decided over nine holes.
Romanby came out winners, leading the six clubs who advance to the championship proper at Bondhay next Wednesday when they will be joined by exempt clubs and the top six from the south qualifier due to take place at Wath today.

Qualifiers at Saltburn: 141 - Romanby (J Searle 33, M Hill 38, D Harris 34, S Pratt 36); 145 - Forest Park; 147 - Filey; 149 - Driffield; 150 - Kirkbymoorside; 152 - Otley. Non qualifiers: 153 - Rudding Park; `154 - Headingley, York; 158 - The Oaks, KP Club; 159 - Bridlington; 167 - Sandburn; 167 - Thirsk & Northallerton.

It's a big ask of a club to go all the way to the first division event but it can be done.

Cookridge Hall achieved the feat last season, starting in the North qualifying and winning three titles on the way before being relegated from Division One.
