Three Leeds juniors acquitted themselves well in the Faldo Series Grand Final at the Costa Do Sauipe Resort in Brazil.
Luke Maguire, from Howley Hall, tied third in the under-18 section, his clubmate Gareth Johnson finished third at under-16 level and Headingley's Lewis Cooper tied fifth in the under-17s.

Maguire shot 78 76 79 to finish 15 strokes back from under
18 division winner Rahul Bakshi, from India.

in the under 17s Cooper carded 79 82 73 as Brazil's Rafael Becker claimed first place on 219 and in the under-16s Johnson shot 78 75 77, five behind Spanish winner Adrian Otaegui.

The three Leeds lads, all scratch players, won their way to Brazil via the regional final at The Roxburghe in Scotland.

Maguire won his age group there on 73, Cooper gained second place in the under 17 group with 74 and Johnson won the under 16 section with a brilliant 69, nine shots clear of his rivals and the best round of the day in all age groups.

Steven Brown, from Chobham, Surrey, won the major title at under-21 level.

His three under par 213 put him four clear of the field and earned an invite to the Faldo Series Asia Grand Final at Mission Hills in China and an amateur invite to the European Tour's 2009 INTECO Russian Open.

The R&A has announced that ticket prices for next year's Open Championship at Turnberry will be maintained at their current level. Advance tickets are now on sale.

The Championship will see Padraig Harrington attempt to become the first player to win three consecutive Open titles since Australian great Peter Thomson in 1956.

David Hill, the R&A's director of championships, said: "Given the current economic climate, the R&A has elected to maintain ticket prices at this year's rates for 2009."

Season tickets purchased before the end of January are available at a heavily discounted £180.

A daily ticket on the four Championship days (July 16-19) costs £55. Under-16s will continue to be admitted free and concessions are again available.

Ticket enquiries should be directed through www.opengolf.com or on 01334 460010.
