IN all its long history the Leeds Cup had not seen anything like it as it took six circuits of Cobble Hall's 172-yard 18th to decide a play-off in which Scott Barber proved a demon with a razor sharp short game.
Three times the Waterton Park, Wakefield, pro, missed the green but a chip and a putt helped him stay alive in the sudden death battle with former European Tour man Paul Eales and North Region giants John Harrison and Simon Edwards.

On the sixth
trip up the hill, after Edwards had been eliminated, his six-iron tee shot spun back and lipped out but left a putt of a couple of feet that secured him his biggest ever prize of £3,000.

He revealed: "I've spent the last few years teaching others the game but now I'm giving myself more time to play and it feels great."
