Botox packs a punch, as former boxer Keith Walker found out. Jayne Dawson reports
HE is a former boxer, boxing trainer and boxing manager and an all-round proper bloke.

Not the kind of man you would expect to be having regular Botox injections then.

But prepare to be surprised, because 42-year-old Keith Walker is a big Botox fan and has regular treatment on his forehead and around his eyes.
And just to prove his commitment to the line freezer, he flies all the way from his new home in Marbella, Spain, to have the procedure carried out by a fellow Leeds woman.

Keith, who also used to organise fight nights at the Queen's Hotel in Leeds, became a fan of the substance which is actually a form of Botulin poison after talking to a friend who was having regular treatment.

He said: "I know some people might think it strange that I use Botox but I talked to this guy who used it and he looked about 36, but it turned out he was 48.

"Marbella is a very body-conscious place so I'm not the only bloke having this treatment by any means."

Keith, who is now a property developer and has property in the Leeds area, travelled back from Spain to the clinic of therapist Heather Irvine, of Birkenshaw, Leeds, after she was recommended to him.

He said of his £300 beauty session: "I do spend a lot of time in the Leeds area but I came back on this occasion especially for my appointment at Heather's clinic.

"I was very pleased with the result so I have been back four times.
"I go roughly every four months, it isn't painful and the results are good."

Keith, who was involved in boxing for 25 years, tries to stay as young looking and fit as possible, and spends an hour and a half in the gym every day.

He said: "I am single and I try to keep myself looking presentable, I eat healthily as well as training regularly."

Heather is a medical aesthetic teacher, which means she teaches other doctors and nurses how to inject skin fillers and muscle relaxants, and she also runs the Heather Irvine Skin and Body Clinic in Bradford
She said: "There is a lot of skill involved in working with Botox.

"I can work on different muscles and carry out advanced work treating areas like the jawline, neck and chest as well as the face."
Heather can also use fillers to improve the signs of ageing and enhance features such as cheekbones, chin and lips.

But the most popular treatments for men are Botox and dermal fillers.
Heather said: "An increasing number of my clients are male.
"Many of them are from the building trade after being exposed to the ravages of the British weather.

"Men realise there is competition for them to look good too.
"They want to look their best."
