ADIL RASHID may have missed out on an England Test call-up for the tour of India but his "time will come", according to Yorkshire chief executive Stewart Regan.
The talented leg-spinner has come into his own with the ball in a stellar second-half of the season, plundering 50 wickets in his last nine first-class matches.

But his 65 County Championship wickets – only Hampshire's James Tomlinson claimed more
– failed to sway Test selectors into handing him a call-up for the two-Test series in December.

Instead the second spinner berth, behind Monty Panesar, went to Nottinghamshire's Graeme Swann who took just 32 first-class wickets.

Many, including Tykes director of cricket Martyn Moxon, were tipping 20-year-old Rashid – who hit a career-best 111 and recorded match figures of 9-177 in Yorkshire's final game of the season at Sussex – for a Test spot.

However, the Bradford-born ace – along with team-mate Tim Bresnan – has been called into the England 15-man performance squad to tour India this winter.

Regan said: "Martyn thought he was ready after getting 60-odd wickets and 500-plus runs and he was certainly more than capable of going in that second spinner/all-rounder spot.

"We've said before that full international honours may be too soon, but Adil's performances in the past couple of months have changed perceptions.

"Equally, he's only 20 and has a bright future and is an exceptional talent and should be proud of his achievements so far.

"I'm sure his time will come but, until then, he'll focus on his own game at Yorkshire."
