GOOD to see council tenants in Leeds who had home improve-ments cancelled at the last-minute are to get them after all.

They had even got as far as choos-ing colour schemes and fittings when they were told there wasn't enough money to do the work.

That was puzzling, especially when you consider the Almo in charge had a cool £20 million in the bank.

Now managers at Aire Valley Homes have performed a swift U-turn.

Wonder if our story about the wrangle had anything to do with their change of heart?

Frankly, we don't care. We're just glad tenants will get the improvements they were promised in the first place.

It's important that organisations tasked with providing a public service remember why they are given a chunk of our taxes...

To spend them on providing a service to the public.
