A Leeds-based digital print company has been taken over.
Topcopy, set up in 1994, is now set to become part of the Lick Group, which has 63 staff and comprises four divisions: Lick Digital, Lick Direct, Lick Online and marketing agency, Lick Agency.

The acquisition of the company, which has a £1m turnover, will see Lick Digital move from its current site in Gildersome, Leeds, to be housed at the Topcopy HQ on Burley Road.

Lick Group operations director Andrew Brown will be heading up the new combined companies.

Together, the Lick Digital team will now exceed more than 20 employees and combined turnover will be an estimated £1.5m.

The digital printers will retain its former name for the near future to avoid confusion for clients.

Linden Kitson, group managing director of the Lick Group says the acquisition of Topcopy is a major milestone.

He said: "The recession has been extremely tough and the Group as a whole have taken numerous hits as a result.

However, the time had come to move forward and the digital division was something we had been looking to expand for some time due to the resilient nature of the work and the increased demand for services.

"We approached Topcopy early this year as a potential acquisition, noting how the company would enhance and complement the existing offering.

"Machinery includes a large format chromapress, Zerox machines and HP Design Jet printers.

"Clients can look forward to 'business as usual' throughout the merge of the businesses."

Lick Digital's clients include HM Prison Services, the National Union of Miners and Leeds United FC.
