THE build-up to one of the most high profile events in the Yorkshire and Humberside property calendar will begin on Monday when the search gets under way for the very best in the region's built and natural environments.

RICS (the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) will launch the 2009 Pro Yorkshire Awards with an event at the Icon Business Centre in Colton, Leeds, which won the 2008 Sustainability Award.

The event will start at 6pm on Thursday and will fea
ture a presentation by the winning project team from Icon, the highest BREEAM rated office building in the UK.

Judges will be looking for leading examples of best practice in Yorkshire and Humberside under the following eight award categories – Building Conservation, Regeneration, Sustainability, Community Benefit, Commercial, Residential, Tourism/Leisure and Innovation/Design. Project of the Year 2009 will be chosen from the eight winners.

Colin Harrop, chairman of the RICS Yorkshire and Humber board, said: "This is the eighth year we will be running the awards and the standard of projects we've seen in previous years has been incredibly high. We predict it will be even more diverse and better quality this year."

The judging panel will include property professionals from across Yorkshire and the Humber.

"The winning entries in four of the categories - Building Conservation, Community Benefit, Regeneration and Sustainability - automatically go through to the international RICS Awards held in London.".

To receive an entry form, call Jennie Dyson on (01924) 229304.
