LEEDS-headquartered national insurer, UK Underwriting Ltd, has recruited industry heavyweight Alastair Harmby as sales and marketing director as part of a senior management reshuffle.
Prior to joining UKU, he worked for 17 years for UKI Partnerships, a subsidiary of Royal Bank of Scotland.
Most recently he had responsibility for managing all their third party client arrangements, including Tesco.
UKU managing director, Paul Smith, said: "Alastair has come aboard, despite being courted by several multi-nationals, as he sees the potential to take this business to the next level. He will add heavyweight credibility to our now market-leading product offering. He is a supreme networker who will give us access to even more of the biggest and most sophisticated clients."
Premiums
Meanwhile finance director, Tim Ward, leaves the business in October after 15 years during which written premiums grew from from £6m to £150m.
Mr Smith added: "We have worked together since 1993, growing the business that is now UKU from two employees to more than 200."
