YORKSHIRE'S Shepherd Construction has teamed up with leading learning disability charity, Mencap, to launch a health and safety challenge that should help reduce accidents on building sites.
Launched this week at Leeds United's Elland Road, the initiative aims to make workers more aware of potential hazards. Mencap will receive a donation for every health hazard that is logged by Shepherd Construction employees as part of the company's s
afety scheme.
A series of workshops at Shepherd Construction sites across the country will also help workers.
Team bike it to help charityAN intrepid team from Leeds are training to take part in a gruelling charity cycle challenge. The five, based in the city office of leading UK wealth management company St. James's Place, will be taking part in the Coast To Coast Cycle Challenge from the Irish Sea to the North Sea in June. The route spans 140 miles from Whitehaven in the Lake District to Sunderland across the North Pennines.
The team is made up of Michael Colyer, Chris Partington, Louise Mitchell, Nick Hey and Melanie Teal.
Mark of quality for law firmYorkshire law firm Keeble Hawson has been re-accredited by two major societies for the third year running, achieving the LEXCEL mark of quality by the Law Society and the Investors in People Standard. The company, with an office in Leeds, underwent an independent assessment by the Law Society for England and Wales, to achieve the LEXCEL accreditation. Investors in People, the public body tasked with improving people management, encourages companies to develop its team to improve overall performance.
