LEEDS and Hull-based PDR Construction says it has defied the downturn in the construction industry by winning £40m in orders for the year to date.
The design-and-build firm says its decision to branch out into new sectors, especially the residential market, is paying dividends and it is looking to grow its team.
Residential contract wins worth a total of £26m include a £10m project to build 106 apartments in Manchester for Highmore Homes; a £7m contract for apartments in Bradford for North Park (Bradford); a £3m contract to build 28 apartments in Sheffield for Trafalgar Court Northern Ltd and a £2m contract to build a mix of houses and apartments in Wakefield for Emerald Properties.
The firm also announced wins in other sectors including £8m of office and industrial developments and £6m worth of work in the retail sector, including an Aldi in Hull and refurbishment at Scarborough Retail Park for Unilever.
David Jones has joined the firm as contracts manager, Kevin Booth as senior quantity surveyor and Peter Thomas as managing surveyor. The business is also seeking an estimator, quantity surveyors and a buyer.
