LEEDS-based developer Sterling Capitol today named its latest office development in honour of Jane Tomlinson, the Leeds mum whose brave fight against cancer and fundraising efforts captured the nation's hearts.
Tomlinson House, which comprises 13,500 sq ft of office space on three floors at Capitol Park West, South Leeds, was officially opened today (Fri) by Jane's husband Mike and BBC TV presenter Harry Gration.

Martin Croxen, chief executive of Sterling Capitol, said: "Jane inspired us all with her selfless courage and commitment.

"It is an honour to be allowed to name our new offices after her. They will provide a lasting tribute to a very special woman".

Mr Croxen said Tomlinson House would form an important new addition to Capitol Park, near Morley, where 1,460 new jobs have been created.

He said that, ultimately, there was potential for a total of 2,500 jobs with 230,000 sq ft of office space to be developed in future phases.

"Apart from Tomlinson House, there is 30,000 sq ft of office space available for occupation now. We are proud of what we have achieved here."

This site, by Junction 28 of the M62 at Tingley, is the most advanced of Sterling Capitol's retained business park sites, which include Capitol Park, Goole and Capitol Park, Barnsley.

Tenants include the NHS, Guardian Media Group, Petcare (Mars Group), Carlsberg-Tetley, dePuy, MFI, Carcraft, Henderson's Insurance, Costain and the new de Vere Village Hotel.

Tomlinson House is ready for occupation and available for lease as a whole or floor by floor. It lies opposite the new Village hotel.

Guy Cooke, partner with joint marketing agents Knight Frank, in Leeds, described the building as "one of the very finest office developments now available on the out-of-town Leeds market".

He added: "Developers Sterling Capitol have created one of the most impressive business parks in Yorkshire, with an excellent mix of tenants.

"The speculative development of Tomlinson House demonstrates that Sterling Capitol have confidence in the future, despite these difficult economic times".

The agents for Capitol Park are the Leeds offices of Knight Frank and King Sturge.
