Wakefield athletes did well in the Yorkshire Track and Field Championships at Don Valley, Sheffield.
Zara Hohn found Olympic hopeful Jessica Ennis (Sheffield) too good for her in the 100 metres but the Wakefield athlete won the 100 hurdles in 14.04.

Charlene Thomas (Wakefield) dropped down to 400 metres and showed impressive speed with a win in 56.75, whilst Wakefield team mate Kelly Johnson successfully defended her 800 metres title, leading all the way to record a personal best of 2:06.

And Lucy O'Gorman added to the Wakefield list of winners with victory in the 3000 metres, clocking 9:42.87

From Leeds City the ultra-consistent Matt Allison won the javelin (57.59) whilst Jake Harman reversed the 1500 metre result when he won the 800 from Phil Tedd (Sale) in 1:55.40.

Leeds City junior Hannah Evenden beat the seniors to win the discus title with a throw of 40.07 and completed a good weekend by taking bronze in the shot and hammer.

In the junior age group Wakefield's Jack Hallas was an impressive winner of the 800 in 4:00.97.
