Leeds City retained their Northern six stage road relay title with ease at Hartlepool on Saturday and also won the Yorkshire title with their B team.
Chris Birchall (16 minutes 28 seconds) started well for Leeds finishing eighth. They quickly moved through to second though. Adam Grice (15:59) then James Wilkinson (16:00) took them to a substantial lead at the halfway mark.

It was a procession after that with James Walsh (15:53) and Alan Buckley (16:02) increasing the lead giving anchor man Darran Bilton, inset, an easy task. Not that Bilton took the easy option, going further ahead with a solo run of 16:08. Altrincham and Morpeth were second and third.

With the usual Don Valley venue unavailable for the Yorkshire Championship, Northern Athletics offered to stage the event within their own championship. Three of the Leeds City winning team represent other counties and are therefore not eligible to run in a Yorkshire event.

But Leeds proved too strong for the first-team squads of the other Yorkshire clubs, finishing 11th out of 69 teams and taking the Yorkshire title ahead of Bingley.
