Former Leeds University student Dominic Bannister (Shaftsbury Barnet) was an impressive winner of the Wilkinson Ackworth Half Marathon in a time of 66:24 – the third fastest in the 25-year history of the race.
Bannister broke away from a tightly knit group of eight around the five-mile mark and took the Yorkshire title staged in conjunction with the race.
Julie Briscoe (Wakefield) was the first woman, finishing 40th overall in 80:04, ahead of Vicky Whit
ehead (Valley Striders).
