Hunslet is one of the most famous names in English rugby league.

The club was formed in 1883, moving to their famous Parkside home five years later.

Founder members of the Northern Union in 1895, Hunslet were one of the sport's strongest club
s in its early years, becoming the first to win All Four Cups in 1907-08.

That historic season saw Hunslet defeat league leaders Oldham 12-2 in a Championship final replay, after drawing the first game 7-7. They were 14-0 winners against Hull in the Challenge Cup final, beat Halifax 17-0 to win the Yorkshire Cup and finished nine points clear in the Yorkshire League table.

Hunslet have twice appeared at Wembley, losing to Wigan in one of the greatest-ever Challenge Cup finals in 1964-65 and being beaten by Hull KR in the only Plate final, in 1997.

They were Challenge Cup winners in 1933-34, won the Yorkshire Cup three times and claimed the Division Two title in 1962-63 and 1986-87.

But the greatest day in the club's history came in 1938, when they beat fierce rivals Leeds 8-2 in the Championship final at Elland Road, in front of a then world record crowd of 54,112.

Hunslet left Parkside in 1973, disbanding and reforming as New Hunslet in 1973-74. They played at a variety of grounds in the 1970s and 80s before moving to their current South Leeds Stadium home in the early 1990s.

The newly renamed Hawks won the Northern Ford Premiership Grand Final in 1999, but were denied promotion to Super League and have been struggling on and off the field ever since.
