Joy for Gabby as Adcocks move closer '¨to world gold
The Adcocks – newly promoted to world No 4 – got off to a slow start in their quarter-final clash with Hong Kong opposition, losing the opening game at Glasgow’s Emirates Arena.
But they bounced back in remarkable style, dictating play and never relinquishing the lead in the second game before sealing the deal in classy fashion in the third, emerging as 16-21 21-13 21-16 victors.

“It’s a pretty surreal feeling at the moment, I’m not sure it’s quite sunk in,” said Leeds’s Adcock.
“That’s probably a good thing because we’ve still got another match or hopefully two to play. To secure a medal for England feels pretty amazing.
“I woke up in the morning thinking that there was a possibility that I could win a medal, but I tried not to think that far ahead.

Plenty more play awaits the married couple, as they look to upgrade their position on the podium in Saturday’s semi-final.
Yet while Chris already has world silver from 2011, alongside Imogen Bankier, this marks Gabby’s first medal on the world stage – not that she’s satisfied just yet.
“I can’t settle for a bronze, but hopefully we can go one better than a silver because that would be a gold,” she said.
