Leicester City are interested in signing Southampton's English left-back Ryan Bertrand. The 31-year-old's contract expires at the end of the season after seven years with the Saints. (Leicester Mercury)

Chris Wood is approaching his latest reunion with his former side and has been deeply impressed with Leeds United's Premier League return.

"I think they’ve done absolutely fantastic,” said Wood, who has scored 46 Premier League goals for the Clarets since leaving Leeds.

“They’ve had their great games and their not-so-good games, like everybody else.

"Overall I think they can say they’ve had a positive season.

“To finish in the top half of the Premier League can’t be sniffed at on your first go. I’m sure they’ll be looking to build next season, go again and see where it takes them.”

Burnley boss Sean Dyche will have at least one new injury absentee to contend with in Saturday's clash at home to Leeds United.

Dyche has confirmed that both Robbie Brady (Achilles) and Kevin Long (shin) remain sidelined for Saturday's Premier League clash against the Whites at Turf Moor.

However, defender Phil Bardsley (hernia) will also be out whilst England international keeper Nick Pope (shoulder and knee) and Dale Stephens (ankle) have also had issues ahead of this weekend's fixture.
