Leeds United head coach Jesse Marsch hopes to turn his side’s fortunes around against Fulham at Elland Road this afternoon

Leeds face Fulham this afternoon at Elland Road with the Whites looking to end a seven-match winless run.

Jesse Marsch insisted Leeds need to find ‘goals’ this weekend having gone without finding the net in three of their last four matches. Defeat at bottom-dwelling Leicester City in midweek prompted mutinous chants from the away end at the King Power Stadium, while previous head coach Marcelo Bielsa’s name was sung by the 3,000 travelling fans.

Pascal Struijk faces a late fitness test to be ready for today’s game having missed Thursday night’s defeat in the East Midlands. Marsch is expected to make changes to his starting XI, recalling captain Liam Cooper and Jack Harrison who began on the bench in midweek.

Leeds United 2-3 Fulham live: Score updates as Fulham come from behind

Until it’s 1-1, the way we’re playing, on top of the match, we’ve gotta sustain that and find ways to build on it.

Marsch on getting fans back onside

I think given everything, the fans were very supportive today. The energy they had at the beginning of the match was optimism and belief. We have to find a way to honour that.

He played 45 for the 21s and we considered putting him on the roster. It’s been a little bit him or Joffy. We really like Willy, he’s also really young. We have to make the right decision on line-ups. I take responsibility.

Marsch on faith in young attackers

I think that Joffy comes in and makes a point for himself. I’ve had this discussion a lot with the staff. He comes in and makes plays. Cree we started on Thursday and we brought him in again today because we believe he has a big future.

Marsch on Elland Road

We know how special playing at Elland Road is. We want to put performances together here that have a 12th man factor. I thought the beginning of the match was fantastic. Even at 1-1 I felt the energy of the crowd. The disappointment and frustration begins to mount.

Marsch on finding a win

If we were getting killed in matches, there would be more worry. It’s not like that, the game is in the balance. If we can find a way to turn that and capitalise on our moments, I believe the momentum can change quickly.

Marsch on failing to sign a striker

We worked hard together to put together a good transfer window and in a lot of ways we did great on it. I’m not gonna start playing hindsight and throw anyone under the bus, I’m focused on myself

Marsch on why he’s still the right man

We can play aggressive football, the kind of football that represents this community, with power and entertainment. In our weak moments we look naive, vulnerable. Again, I take responsibility.

I understand the frustration from the fans. We are together, we are unified. The players have been great, we believe in them. The board and I are unified completely.

It’s painful and I take responsibility. I have to find ways to organise us. It’s not inspiration as much as it’s still discipline, concentration and belief to know we’re on the right path and stop the bleeding.
