Molly Garbutt: Inquest opens into death of 25-year-old Leeds woman whose body was found in Yorkshire Dales

The suspected cause of death of a Leeds woman whose body was found in the Yorkshire Dales has been shared at the opening of her inquest.

The body of Molly Ann Garbutt, 25, was found near Skipton on April 4 after she was reported missing from the Leeds area the day before.

Her car had been located near to Dibbles Bridge in Hebden and a large search supported by RAF Mountain Rescue, the Upper Wharfedale Fell Rescue Association and a HM Coastguard helicopter was carried out.

An inquest to find the cause of death was opened in Wakefield this morning (Wednesday).

Area coroner Oliver Longstaff explained that he had received two pathologists reports and a statement from a police officer.

The court heard that Ms Garbutt was a student at the time of her death.

Her body was found in woodland area adjacent to a footpath in Skipton and the provisional cause of death was given as “hanging”.

A hearing was adjourned and a full inquest into Ms Garbutt’s death will be held at a later date.
