Leeds drug dealer caught shoplifting at Sports Direct store
Jordan Baxter, 20, was searched after he was caught stealing at the store in The Core in Leeds city centre.
Leeds Crown Court heard Baxter threw away a bag during a struggle as he was detained by store staff. The bag was recovered and found to contain seven small packages containing the class A drug. A larger package was also found within the bag. Jonathan Sharp, prosecuting, said: “He was arrested and interviewed and he was remarkably and refreshingly frank and accepted that he had those drugs.”

Baxter, of York Road, Leeds, pleaded guilty to possession of cocaine with intent to supply. He was sent to a young offenders institution for three years.
Stuart Field, mitigating, said Baxter had admitted the offences at an early stage and had co-operated fully with police.
He added: “Mr Baxter realises that he may lose his liberty and expresses anxiety.” Mr Field said Baxter had only recently began selling the drug. The Recorder of Leeds, judge Peter Collier, QC, said: “You may be a newcomer to this but you are not someone who is naive. I have no doubt that you were aware that you were involved in crime and that is serious. It was something that you were doing to make money for yourself and you were quite brazen about it.”
