West Yorkshire Police have warned the public of making nuisance calls - after a call regarding a 'haunted house'.

WYP Contact Centre tweeted: "The police can assist with many things, but one thing we can't help you with is if your house is haunted by a ghost.

"Especially when you call on 999.

One Twitter user replied: "If only there was some kind of song that would help people remember who to call... #NotThePolice #Try666 #Not999 #IAintAfraidOfNoGhost"

This is not the first time the force tweeted about nuisance calls to their 999 team.

In November, a call was made to 999 regarding a booking made on a website.

The force tweeted: "If you have an issues regarding a hotel booking you have made through a booking website, then you need to take this up with them to make the complaint and not call 999 as this is not an emergency. #Not999"

Other #Not999 calls included a child not wanting to go to school.
