An army bomb squad has been called out to a garden in Leeds after a man found an item which looked like a 'wartime bomb'.

The man was working in his garden on Musgrave View, Bramley, at about 6.30pm yesterday (Monday) when he found the item.

He called police who contacted army bomb disposal experts.

A cordon was put in place and nearby homes were evacuated until the squad arrived at 9pm.

They assessed the item and found it was not a bomb and residents were allowed back into their homes shortly after.
