Dealer tried to wash drugs down the kitchen sink during police raid on his Leeds home

Mark Andrew Foley was caught with nearly £9,000 worth of heroin and crack cocaine when officers targeted his home on Dib Lane, Roundhay, on September 12.

The 48-year-old addict was arrested along with two others and taken to Elland Road Police Station.

During a strip search, a clingfilmed package was found between his bum cheeks that contained heroin, prosecutor Matthew Moore-Taylor told Leeds Crown Court.

A search of his house found more drugs, with police estimating a street value of between £4,467 and £8,935.

They also found a knuckleduster in the living room and a tick list for customers.

Foley has 13 convictions for 61 offences, including two for dealing Class A drugs in the 1990s.

He most recently was given a six-year jail term in 2018 for burglary, for which he served half the sentence.

He admitted two counts of possession with an intent to supply Class A drugs.

Mitigating, Robin Frieze admitted his client had a “terrible record” and said his life was “blighted by drugs”.

He said he was drug-free on his release from prison, but his mother’s death led to him using again, and he began selling to fund his own habit.

Recorder Andrew Haslam KC jailed him for three years and nine months and said: “You have a poor record for offending. You know from your own addiction the effects these drugs has on others.

"It’s a pernicious trade.”
