As part of step one of the Government's road map out of lockdown, outdoor recreation is set to resume on March 29 - subject to review. Outdoor gatherings of either six people or two households will be allowed, so you can pack a tasty picnic and head down to your local park with friends and family. Here are some of the most beautiful Leeds locations for a spring picnic. Remember to stay at home and stay local until guidelines change.
1. Kirkstall Abbey
Stretching across 24 hectares, there's plenty of open space to enjoy some al fresco dining against the backdrop of the magnificent Kirkstall Abbey ruins, and with a wealth of sports and play areas, there's lots to keep you entertained in between eating.
2. Golden Acre Park
Home to beautiful gardens, sprawling parkland, a lake, streams and woodland, Golden Acre provides a wonderfully picturesque setting to enjoy a wander in the sunshine, before settling down for a peaceful picnic.
3. Otley Chevin
Boasting glorious views across Otley and the Wharfe Valley, Otley Chevin is the place to head for a picnic with a view. There's a beautiful woodland area to explore after eating, as well as some challenging hill climbs which rise to 280m above sea level.
4. Rothwell Country Park
Providing a peaceful spot away from the centre of Leeds, Rothwell Popular haunt is a popular haunt among walkers. Take the scenic 2.8 mile circular loop of the park before settling down for a picnic.
5. Yeadon Tarn
Located on 3-5 Cemetery Road, this park is open to the public 365 days a year and is popular with people of all ages. This is a great spot for a picnic and the short stroll around the Tarn is perfect for families.
6. Roundhay Park
Ideal for a whole day of outdoor fun, Roundhay Park overs more than 700 acres of rolling parkland, lakes, woodland and gardens to enjoy, providing a scenic setting to bathe in the sunshine.
